Gary Air is looking for an HVAC Install Helper to support our installation team on residential and light commercial HVAC projects. This role is ideal for someone who is hardworking, dependable, mechanically inclined, and interested in building a long-term career in HVAC.
The Install Helper works directly with the Lead Installer to assist with equipment changeouts, ductwork, line sets, drains, electrical connections, jobsite preparation, cleanup, and customer care. The goal of this role is to learn the trade, support efficient installs, and help deliver a clean, professional, high-quality experience for every customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Lead Installers with residential and light commercial HVAC installations.
- Help remove and dispose of old HVAC equipment.
- Assist with setting and securing indoor and outdoor equipment.
- Support installation of ductwork, plenums, transitions, drain lines, refrigerant lines, thermostats, and accessories.
- Carry, stage, organize, and protect tools, materials, and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe jobsite throughout the install.
- Protect customer property, including floors, walls, landscaping, and work areas.
- Help complete jobsite cleanup before leaving each project.
- Load and unload equipment, materials, and tools.
- Follow instructions from the Lead Installer and Install Manager.
- Learn proper installation practices, safety procedures, and Gary Air quality standards.
- Communicate professionally with customers and team members.
- Help ensure trucks are stocked, clean, and organized.
- Follow all company safety policies and jobsite procedures.

Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must meet company driving and insurability requirements.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy equipment and materials.
- Ability to work in attics, crawlspaces, roofs, garages, closets, and outdoor Florida heat.
- Basic mechanical ability and comfort using hand tools.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Professional appearance and communication.
- Ability to pass any required background checks or company hiring requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior HVAC, construction, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical experience.
- EPA certification or interest in obtaining it.
- Trade school or HVAC training.
- Experience working with ductwork, tools, or jobsite labor.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
- Ability to climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand, bend, kneel, or crawl for extended periods.
- Ability to work in hot attics, garages, closets, rooftops, crawlspaces, and outdoor Florida conditions.
- Ability to safely operate basic hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to load, unload, carry, and stage HVAC equipment and materials.
